What We Did

BEFORE

The original kitchen was extremely cluttered.  It had old oak cabinets, appliances, and an odd layout.  There was no dedicated pantry, and the kitchen felt very closed in.  The refrigerator was originally in the middle of the kitchen, making it difficult for more than one person to occupy the space at one time.  There was an old oak partition wall that separated the space from the rest of the house. This would need to be removed to create an open space.  The flooring was outdated yellow linoleum.

AFTER

After a full renovation, the result was stunning.   The cabinet layout was completely transformed with the installation of brand new white cabinets.  The refrigerator was moved to a more sensible location, and a dedicated food pantry was added.  All the appliances were replaced with new stainless steel ones.  New laminate wood flooring was installed in a color complimentary to the granite and cabinets.  The walls were painted with a neutral color.  A breakfast bar with lower cabinets and a large granite slab was installed where the old refrigerator used to be.  New pendant accent lights were added, and new can lights were installed.

BEFORE

The carpeting in the living areas was a dark red color that was outdated and dirty.  It had exceeded its life and needed to be replaced.  There were popcorn ceilings throughout the home that would need to be properly scraped, textured, and painted in order to sell for top dollar.  The old chandelier over the dining area would need to be replaced.   The ceiling fan would need to be replaced with an updated version.  The fireplace hadn’t been cleaned and inspected in years. The old façade would need to be removed and the brick painted.

AFTER

The new wood laminate flooring replaced the old carpet and would continue throughout the house.  The popcorn ceilings were scraped, textured and painted in a neutral color.  An updated chandelier was added in the dining area, as was a ceiling fan over the living area.  The fireplace was cleaned and painted.

BEFORE

The master bedroom had old carpeting and an undersized closet.  The baseboards were damaged, and there were some holes in the walls.  The old popcorn ceilings needed to be scraped, textured, and painted.  A new ceiling fan would need to replace the old, outdated one.

AFTER

New carpeting was installed in a neutral beige color.  The closet was re-organized with a double shelf and pole.  Mirrored closet doors were added to open the room and make it feel larger.  The popcorn ceilings were scraped, textured, and repainted, and the baseboards were replaced. A new ceiling fan was installed.

BEFORE

The family room was located off the living/dining room and had an old sliding glass door as an entry way.  This would need to be removed and widened.  There was an additional unpermitted room off of the family room that didn’t make sense for the floorplan.  This room encroached on the backyard, so it was determined that the structure be removed.  Renovest hired a demolition crew to tear it down and repair the damage to the exterior of the home.  The old aluminum slider was replaced with a new dual pane slider, which would now provide adequate access to the outside.  All the flooring would need to be replaced, and the popcorn ceilings properly scraped, textured and painted.  There were previous issues with the electrical wiring in the family room that would need to be repaired.

AFTER

After removing the sliding glass door and widening the entry to the family room, the home now had a more open, spacious feel.  New wood laminate flooring was installed, the interior walls were painted, and the baseboards replaced. Renovest brought in a licensed electrician to fix the electrical issues, and a new ceiling fan was installed.  An energy efficient dual pane sliding glass door replaced the old aluminum version.

BEFORE

The master bathroom was very small, with limited space for a vanity sink and cabinets.  The shower was undersized and outdated.  With such a crowded space, the shower would need to be expanded into the adjacent bathroom to make room for a tub shower.  The existing vanity cabinet was tiny and obsolete, and the flooring was old and outdated.

AFTER

After successfully relocating the toilet in the guest bathroom, room was made for a full-size tub shower.  New porcelain tile was installed in a neutral color, and the vanity was replaced with matching cabinets, new sink and faucet, and new mirror with lighting.   The new marble countertops were the perfect touch to tie it all together.
